1. Des Moines Arts Festival Opens! 11:00AM - 10:00PM
The eleven-time Grand Pinnacle Award-winning Des Moines Arts Festival, presented by Nationwide, is being held June 22-24, 2018. This free annual three-day arts and culture festival will surround the John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park. DMAF invites you to “…go where it takes you…” by engaging with 180 invited professional visual artists, emerging Iowa artists, the cutting-edge Interrobang Film Festival, live music, performing arts, interactive arts activities, award-winning community outreach programs, live artist workshops and demonstrations, artisan food, and beverages for every taste. 2. Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity Wall Raising Ceremony - 11:00AM
Join us at 12th Street and Locust Street as the Des Moines Arts Festival once again partners with Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity to build a house for a family in need. This short program is the start of a three-day Blitz Build on the Festival site from June 22-24 in Western Gateway Park. Guests of the Festival will be able to tour the house from noon to 4:00pm on Sunday, June 24th upon completion.
3. Art Bus Unveiling - Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation 12:00PM
As a part of the 2018 Des Moines Arts Festival, DART and the Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation are once again partnering to wrap a transit bus with an artist's design. The unveiling ceremony is Friday, June 22 at 12:00pm on 12th Street between Grand Avenue and Locust Street. In addition to the unveiling, DART and the Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation are also hosting two public art tours on Saturday, June 24th. The tours, which will take place at 1:00pm and 3:00pm, are free and open to the public. The pick-up location for the tour is near the intersection of 12th Street and High Street in Downtown Des Moines. Volunteers will be on hand to assist those interested in taking the tour. Media is also welcome to ride along. Each tour is scheduled to last approximately one hour.
4. Interrobang Film Festival - 11:00AM - 10:00PM
The Interrobang Film Festival presented by AARP Movies for Grownups, is three days filled with films and communication between filmmakers and audience members. The audience, whether cinema enthusiasts or curious newcomers, can experience curated screenings of 55 films form 30 different countries. Films are screened Friday, June 22nd - Sunday, June 24th in the South wing of the Des Moines Public Library located on the Des Moines Arts Festival site.
Part juried competition, part public screening and part workshop, the unique film festival event allows people to experience films from artists around the globe. The term "interrobang" indicates a non-standard punctuation mark in an exclamatory manner, as in, "What are YOU doing for Art Week 2018?!" This mixture of query and interjection leaves room for reflection, contemplation and exploration. Since 2007, the Des Moines Arts Festival has presented the INterrobang Film Festival as part of its three-day lineup bringing the art of the film to Festival guests June 22-24th. 5. Barnum Factory Mural Unveiling 4:00PM - 6:00PM
Rebel and Outsider artists alike have been working diligently as a team on a mural on the second floor of the Barnum Factory.
Collaborative artists include Cazzie Hammond, Iven Jones, Shannantay Lewis, Andy Donald, Desa Irene and others. Come celebrate its completion with us! There will be refreshments and good times to be had.

Dickinson, Mackaman, Tyler & Hagen, P.C. attorneys have long been proud patrons of the arts in the community through their patronage efforts of various organizations, and service on arts organization boards over the years. In 2013, we launched Iowa Artists on Display to give Iowa artists another opportunity to showcase their works at our downtown Des Moines headquarters. Now in its sixth year, the program has become an exciting part of the vibrant, growing Des Moines art scene. Drinks and appetizers will be served while you admire the works of art professors and students from colleges and universities throughout the state of Iowa. 8. Organ Concert & Art Show at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral 6:30PM - 8:30PM
Join us for a festive evening of music and art! Central College professor and organist Mark A. Babcock will play selections on the renowned Casavant organ, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. After the performance, there will be a light reception and a chance to view the work of local artists on display throughout the Cathedral. Doors open at 6pm, Concert starts at 6:30pm.
