New York lawyer Hiram Barney obtained a tract of land in southeast Iowa as part of the Half-Breed program following the American Indian Wars and created the White Elk Winery. German settlers in Amana tended community vineyards for communal wines. Before Prohibition, the Council Bluffs Grape Growers Association grew grapes and shipped them eastward by the ton. In the early 1900s, the state was among the nation's top producers of grapes. Pesticides, weather and government subsidies ended the time of the vines of the prairie until their recent return. Author John N. Peragine details the rise, fall and resurgence of the industry in the Hawkeye State

Come for a special viewing of my photos, paintings and collage pieces combined to create an installation I specifically designed to celebrate an end to our generational family trauma. These works look at the natural certainty of death, the art we make to cope and heal from our loss and the forgiveness required to move on and let go of the pain, sorrow, addiction and negativity that can go along with unexpected death.

My family was devastated over the loss of a child in 1968. This Viewing creation is an end to the tragedy and blame for all involved in her accident in order to give way to love, forgiveness, and exuberance. This is the final ritual of art in letting go of generational family trauma this event created. Come see and celebrate!  View Facebook Event Page
