Children and families are invited to create their own painted rocks to either hide within the Avenues of Ingersoll & Grand or bring home to share with friends or neighbors. The Des Moines Art Center will provide materials and inspiration from their collection.
The artist Andy Goldsworthy is known for his site-specific installations involving natural materials and the passage of time. “Three Cairns,” his recognizable piece in the Des Moines Art Center’s Public Art collection, is his largest project in the Western Hemisphere. Cairns are stone structures [or markers] that identify a place of great importance.
