Join neighbors in an artist-led street party as Franklin Ave hosts three co-created blockades expanding and insulating the Beaverdale Farmers Market. The one-time-only experience invites exploration of the Market and beyond during Art Week Des Moines 2024. Facebook Event
Street blockades will be led by local artists:
- Jacob Kuperman “Mythical River Monster”
- Tone the Movemaker, Designed by the Streets “Anything is Possible, Interactive Community Art Experience” The objective is to build a cardboard box city together where anything is possible! Participants will Roll The Dice of Life.
- Heather Whittlesey “Tube Flute” A candy coated experience where viewers can interact with elements of the work by rolling balls down tubes of mixed media items.
- Katie Gazzo “Massive Hop Scotch Game” This large scale chalk art invites individuals of all ages and artistic abilities as we work together to fill in each number square with unique and colorful designs. Participants will have the opportunity to express their creativity and imagination as they contribute to this interactive piece of art. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just looking to have some fun, this event is open to everyone in the community.
- Lindsey Croghan “The Convenience Melt” This inflatable piece invites the viewer to step inside, play around a bit, and reflect on the relationship between our dwelling’s stuff & nature.
