1.  Toddler Art Outside  - East Side Library 10:30 AM - 11AM

Join us after our story time (10:30-11:00) for Toddler Art Outside where we will get messy on the lawn using all kinds of fun materials. (best for 18 months-3 years) Please dress for a mess and in case of rain, alternate arts-based activities will be held inside the library.

2.  Among the Garbage and the Flowers - Heritage Gallery - 3PM - 4:30PM

Reception at the Heritage Gallery for Jennifer Leatherby's show Among the Garbage and the FLowers.

3. Instant Photography for Tweens & Teens - East Side Library - 4:30PM - 5:30PM

Join us for this Instant Photography class with DMACC Instructor Michael Watson to learn about composition, color and the art of small photos. Participants are encouraged to bring their own camera and film, but the library will provide camera and film for pairs to use together if you don't have your own. 4. Art Pups: Dog and People Walk at the Pappajohn Sculpture Park 6PM - 7PM

Art is humanity’s gift to civilization and dog is man’s best friend, so dogs and art together must be the greatest thing imaginable! The Des Moines Art Center and #ArtPup welcomes you and your canine companions to leash up and head out to the John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park for a pup-tastic tour of our world famous sculptures right in the heart of the city. Please be sure that each pooch in attendance has a leash, at least one human, and the temperament to play well with others.

5. West End Art Amble 6:00PM - 9:00PM

The newly formed West End Art District invites you to explore the neighborhood teaming with food, fun and art! You'll find everything in walking distance. From the Fitch to the Des Moines Social Club. Between the Sculpture Park and the Art Terrarium. Find more info on the event here

6. Fitch Building Open House 6:00PM - 9:00PM

Fitch building will host an open house for Art Week 2019.  More details to follow and you can keep up to date on the Fitch Building through their Facebook Page.

7. Plein Air Painting event with the Des Moines Social Club 6PM - 8PM

Use your creative skills to paint a canvas to be displayed at the Des Moines Social Club. You pick up your canvas on Friday, June 21st and have the weekend to paint a scene in the Des Moines area. All of the completed works will be displayed in the show in the Viaduct Gallery. Note: There will be a small supply fee for participation. Additional Details to be announced. 8. The Cream at Fitch Studio Open House 6:00PM - 9:00PM

Artists Larassa Kabel and Stephanie Brunia have begun a new studio visit project called The Cream. They have been traveling around the state meeting artists in their work spaces, asking them about their practices, and photographing behind the scene. This has revealed the how's and why's of some of Iowa's most interesting artists. They will be launching their initiative on Tuesday June 25th at The Fitch Studios with some of those artists on hand to answer questions and holding a drawing for a piece of art.

9. Pop Up event at Oliver and James Salon

10. Art Terrarium - West End Collectif Art Show 6PM - 9PM

Part of the Art Amble in the West End Art District. An eclectic group of artists gets together at Art Terrarium to showcase pottery by Anna Cowley Ford and Natalie Lynn; Photography by Scott Feid (@sxdot), Tobias (@borgology), Tatiana Giacinti (@tatianagia), Rylie Glenn. All with music provided by Leece and other brilliant artists Niko Lewis and Jordan Luckow (@ultrachronicmonstah).

11. Manibus Public Participatory Dance Painting 6PM - 9PM

Join artist, Amenda Tate, and her motion-controlled paint-bot creation, Manibus, to help create a collaborative community painting. Take a turn to wear the controller device on your wrist and dance to instruct the robot in painting your marks.

Free and open to the public. All ages and all abilities welcome. Come to watch or join in the creation process. An example of the process can be seen here:

12. Three Dish Night at Bistro Nomad 5:00PM - 9:00PM

Enjoy an evening of Artistry - visual arts, cuisine & jazz at Bistro Nomad, Downtown Des Moines

Local artist, Brent Holland of Studio Holland Art and French Master Chef, David Baruthio of BARU 66, have collaborated to come up with an experience Des Moines has never seen before. Chef Baruthio created a ‘one night only,' three-course, Mediterranean meal at Bistro Nomad, that is inspired by Holland's artwork, which is architectural in nature and exhibited at a pop-up art gallery in the restaurant.

Local jazz favorites John Krantz and Steve Charlson are performing as well.

Holland will be giving short presentations on his work. The event promises to entertain on multiple sensory levels!

Tickets Include: artist presentation, a limited edition art print, live jazz, art exhibition, plus a three-course-meal + drink.

Holland is donating 10% of art sales from Three Dish Night to Momentum Art Studios by Community Support Advocates. Momentum provides accessible and meaningful art opportunities to underserved consumers with mental disabilities. A collection of ten drawings will be for sale at Bistro Nomad.

Three Dish Night is the same evening and walking distance to another awesome art event, the West End Art Amble - Art Week 2019@. There will be is a series of art and music opportunities around The Fitch Building, 304 15th St. The Art Studios at the Fitch Building are having an open house, 6-9pm. We encourage you to 'artfully amble' between both venues!

16. Bankers Trust Participates in Art Week Des Moines, Unveils Its Iowa Artists Collection

Bankers Trust has unveiled a fantastic collection of artwork by 12 artists living and working in Iowa. The Iowa Artists Collection will be on display throughout Art Week Des Moines in the Ruan Center lobby at 453 7th Street in downtown Des Moines.
